We had our monthly "Girls' Night" at our friends Melissa and Shaune's building last month. Christy and I left at the same time with the girls and were going down from the 2nd floor to the lobby in the elevator. We were talking and didn't notice at first that it was taking the elevator an awfully long time to go down one floor. We hit the Lobby button again, and nothing happened, hit the 2nd floor button...and nothing happened, hit every other button there was, and still nada!
Realizing we were actually stuck, we hit the Call button and told the lady who picked up that we were stuck, she heard Hazel and asked if we had a kid, we told her we had 2 babies (thinking this would speed things up), and not to mention a pregnant lady (Christy, not me!). We called Melissa and Shaune on my cell phone, to try to hit the elevator button from the outside, but that also did nothing. We waited patiently, entertaining the girls in the small space. Hazel pressed the call button (maybe a few times), and the woman told us she had called the building's security guard to come help us. We told the latest news to our friends waiting on the other side of the door, who in turn told us that there was no building security guard, uh oh! We called the elevator lady back, and she said that someone was coming from Anaheim (or was it Pasadena?). This was a Friday night, and with LA traffic we could be waiting a couple hours! We knew the babies were tired and there was soon going to be a meltdown of babies and mommies if we had to wait a couple hours. We asked the elevator lady to call the Fire Department and she gave some lame excuse about why she couldn't and so our friends called for us.
The Fire Department came quickly (2 fire trucks worth) and ended up having to turn the power off and back on, and quickly got the elevator to open and save us! We only ended up being in there for about 40 minutes, but we were so thankful to be out. Quite an adventure for these little girls!
