Something New...
Our funny girl fell asleep on the way home from Daddy's game with two hands in her mouth, looks like she is working on her whistle!
Daddy's Softball Game
Mike has joined a softball team, and we went to watch his games last weekend. It was a sunny, warm day and there was no shade on the Vanquish side, so Maddy got to nap in her stroller behind the backstop, and later we found a shady spot on the grass between baseball fields to lay down and relax. Maddy wore a onesie that said "Go Vanquish" and #11 (Mike's #) in a heart. The other players were excited to have a little fan in the stands.
New Bath Tub
Maddy's new inflatable bath tub! She was too long for the plastic baby tub, and not able to sit up enough for the bath seat, so now she has the perfect baby bath tub. She is able to lay down enough without putting her head underwater and can lean on the sides to sit up. The longest part of bath time for us is washing all of her hair! Before anyone gets upset about naked baby pictures, I found out how to edit and blurred out any private areas.
Five Month Update
The months are flying by so fast, I almost can't keep up with these updates!
Five Months finds Maddy:
- cutting her first tooth, bottom right front (I can feel it with my finger, but can't see it at all yet, so may be a while). The bottom picture is to show her toothless gums, may be the last month for no teeth!
- reaching out for toys and people (Cousin Bella is her favorite to reach out to for hugs)
- congested due to the teething :(
- more social, interacts (a little) with the babies in our parent-child group
- more curious about food, utensils, cups, peoples' faces
- moves around more on her back while on the floor (she kind of gave up on rolling for now, but twists herself to where she wants to be)
- giggles for daddy all the time
- wears size 3 diapers
- wears 6-9 and 6-12 month clothes (she is long!)
- listens and looks at the pictures in books when we read to her, tries to hold the books herself
- tries to touch the kitties now, pulled a tail the other day
- bathes and sits up while leaning in an inflatable bath tub that fits inside mommy's tub
- sits up supported, starting to hold herself up on her own
- tries to pull her torso up when laying on her back (can get to about a 30 degree angle now)
- DROOLS
- everything she grabs goes straight to her mouth, we are used to seeing her hands in her mouth now
Maddy is at such a fun age right now! She can go longer between feedings (can go 5 hours when we are out and about and not thinking about feeding, but still wants to eat every 2 hours when home with mommy). She has a huge, gummy smile, and will smile for anyone who talks to her. It is so much fun to watch her and Bella start to interact together, Maddy immediately reaches out for her, and Bella gets a huge smile for her cousin the second she sees her.
Maddy can play by herself longer now, just long enough for me to get some things done, without having to hold or wear her.
She outgrew her first infant car seat, the height limit was 26 inches, which she measured at her 4 month appointment, we are now using Hazel's old car seat that fits up to 32 inches.
Happy five months Madeline, you'll soon be half a year old!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
