February 2012

How has the first month of the new year already flown by already?

We are excited to announce that baby #2 looks to be a GIRL! We'll have 2 girls! I was more nervous (anxious?) to find out the sex of this baby than I was for Maddy. With your first it will all be new so you could go either way, but now we know girl, so the possibility of needing to know girl and boy made me nervous. Of course it would be nice to have a boy, but we pretty much have everything we need for girl. Maddy has been saying the whole pregnancy that there is a girl, her baby sister in there, so at least we don't have to try to convince her the baby is a boy.

We are close to deciding on the name, and thinking of nursery themes. I can't wait to dig out all the baby clothes in the garage and start organizing! Baby is very active and loves to kick me in the bladder, I can feel her twisting and turning as I type this! We had a great ultrasound technician yesterday at our anatomical ultrasound. The best part of course was learning that she is a SHE, and then seeing baby play with her feet and give us the hang loose hand gesture when we were looking at her hands.

We recently re-did Maddy's bedroom from her nursery into a big girl room, complete with full sized bed. The previous owners had that room painted green and purple and we had been wanting to repaint it since we moved in. It is now a cheerful yellow, and Maddy loves it. She has spent every night in her room, and shows no interest in coming back into our bed! I have been sleeping in there with her to get her used to it, and now am slowly transitioning to leaving her in there by herself. We just set up a video monitor to keep an eye on her, and have the window and door chime of our house alarm set to sound anytime a window or door is opened.

We spent last weekend in Anaheim, Mike ran/walked "rulked" a 5K at Disneyland Friday night and we turned it into a weekend getaway. Sunday morning I hit my foot on the bed frame and broke a toe. I've been checked out, and should heal nicely in 6 weeks. My stomach turns to think about my toe bent sideways at a 90 degree angle. The doctor gave me the week off work to stay off my foot to give it a good start at healing, especially since I am standing and walking most of my workday.

I haven't uploaded any new photos, need to get on that!
